Nature has made its mark on the wedding industry, and bridal magazines and blogs are teeming with natural elements. People are figuring out tasteful and special ways to include flowers and natural foliage into their weddings so, rustic, whimsical and earthy themes have become a common sight. So, it is time to get your creative juices flowing. Infuse the big event with a soothing touch of nature to bring forth a simple and effortless, yet enthralling vibe.

Most people choose to make an outdoor celebration, or decide to bring the outdoors in. Rest assured that both tactics may prove to be fruitful. Indeed, you can feel the Mother Nature’s embrace without wandering outside the city. For instance, finding a wedding venue in Sydney that matches an appropriate natural theme is a breeze.

And even if the venue is a far cry from a woodland paradise, you can still turn it into a green sanctuary. From wedding dresses and invitations to the floral arrangements and food, you should let the symphony of natural texture, tones and shapes enchant the place. Let us start with colours.

Greenery is a no-brainer; after all, Pantone has selected it as a colour of this year. This refreshing shade is a perfect match for any nature-inspired wedding, as it echoes the jubilance of new beginnings, growth and nourishment. So, include pops of green across the venue with elements such as wedding arches made of foliage. For a truly romantic feel, combine greenery with neutrals and pastels.

You basically cannot go wrong with flowers and plants. They are much more than a material for your bouquets: they pose the essence of an organic and rustic soul of the wedding. Thus, add plenty of lush greens, succulents, air plants and garlands. There is no need to limit yourself to traditional flowers only. Fresh herbs like rosemary create a more rustic atmosphere.

Consider lining your aisle with potted plants or ferns to welcome guests. They fit any season and venue, be it a church, restaurant or an outdoor ambient. You should be able to find cheap flower pots or alternatively, go DIY. Complement this natural bliss with a tree stump for a guest book.

Cascading eucalyptus, for example, can serve as an amazing photo booth backdrop. On the other hand, you can always play it safe and start with some baby steps. Namely, even small, well-placed details make a big impact on the overall aesthetics and theme.

All those little pieces

Things like stationeries set the theme and style for the wedding, so pay close attention to their design.  Add shades of green and natural motifs to allow them to get a taste of what’s coming. As for welcome gifts, try to go for something unique and organic like a sesame candy.  All the little pieces need to come together seamlessly.

Another great way to incorporate nature is with table settings. Think in terms of green cutlery, napkins, table runners, fruit arrangements and candles. Of course, if you opt for a summer or spring wedding, the weather will work to your advantage. You can dine in Al Fresco style and enjoy a wealth of foliage. In any event, provide a fresh and local culinary experience to match the theme aesthetics.

Finally, keep your eyes open for tiny décor pieces that make a big difference. Put fresh mint leaves in your signature cocktail and use twine-bound boutonnieres. Ribbons are a nice addition, especially if they are in a soft green shade. Perhaps one of my favorite ideas is a moss ring pillow, which is perfect in case you want to go all in on a natural vibe.

Accentuate the wedding with green, organic, and natural elements. Follow trends only to the extent that reflects your personality and taste. Create an enchanting atmosphere to wow the attendees and ensure that these memories will last a lifetime.
