6 Reasons NOT To Panic Should It Rain On Your Wedding Day

Contrary to popular opinion, rain on your wedding day is NOT a total disaster, and it certainly isn’t a bad omen of any sort for your marriage. Thanks to JollyBrolly for putting together these tips on how to prepare for a bit of drizzle on your wedding day…and why not to panic!

  1. Backup, Backup

You can go to town with relevant clichés for this one… better safe than sorry, fail to prepare, prepare to fail etc – but a simple solution of sorts to avoid wedding day panic from the outset takes the form of a short and easy conversation with your venue manager. Ask about contingency plans for if the heavens should open and alleviate that anxiety before it has time to take root.

  1. Mobile Magic

It’s not only our phones and computers that are mobile these days; tents, music systems, chairs, tables, flowers and gifts can all be moved. Enlisting the help of a few of the more burly guests prior to the big day (groomsmen anyone?) just in case it rains can give you a brand new venue in a quick turnaround time should it be needed last minute,

  1. Wedding Umbrellas

Of course we were going to mention these… if you really wanted to go to town and demonstrate some wedding umbrellasartistic weather-proof flair, you could create a rain-proof cover of sorts from umbrellas as with this one in Borough Market.

Alternatively, you could order some budget wedding umbrellas to shelter your guests should it rain. And if it does, umbrellas can make for some magical wet weather photos – use them as a frame, a focal point or to add a pop of vibrancy to a photo full of black and white suits.

We love this one too, of a bride and groom arm in arm under their umbrella together – a beautiful metaphor of sorts for a successful marriage.

Additionally, Anna’s bridal bouquets are just stunning. It’s likely you’ll have a wedding colour scheme, so align your flowers and your umbrellas with the rest of the décor to ensure you’re fully prepared to take full advantage of any wet weather opportunities.

  1. Save The Shoe

Forget save the date… we’ve got tips on saving your shoes! Firstly, as a bride – always bring a spare if it looks like it’s going to rain. Slip into your proper wedding shoes only when and where you have to.

Secondly you can get plastic shoe stoppers for high heels – yes, they exist! They’re a little plastic contraption you put on the bottom of your high heel that widens the surface area and prevents them – and you – sinking in the mud should it rain.bride with bouquet and wedding umbrella

  1. Anti-Frizz Alert

It’s always worth having a chat with whomever is handling your hair and beauty should you be planning a wedding in the winter months. Anti-frizz hair products and waterproof makeup may just save the day… and your photos.

  1. So What?!

And last but not least – so what if it rains? Embrace it! Enjoy the moment, have fun and cherish those incredible photos.
